Understand Glycemic Index and Glycemic Load: 5 Key Principles for Better Blood Sugar Control

Managing blood sugar levels is crucial for overall health, especially for those with diabetes or prediabetes. Two important concepts to understand to manage health and wellbeing when making food choices especially if you want to manage diabetes are the Glycemic Index (GI) and Glycemic Load (GL). Here are five principles to help you make better food choices based on these concepts: 1. Prioritize Low Glycemic Index Foods The Glycemic Index (GI) measures how quickly a food raises blood sugar levels. Foods with a low GI cause a slower, more gradual rise in blood sugar, which is beneficial for maintaining stable energy levels and avoiding spikes. Examples of low GI foods include non-starchy vegetables, beans, and certain fruits like apples, pears, pomegranate and berries. 2. Consider Glycemic Load for a Comprehensive View Glycemic Load (GL) takes into account both the quality (GI) and quantity of carbohydrates in a food. This provides a more comprehensive understanding of a food’s impact on...

I belong from Ajmer, Rajasthan (India) and Following my engineering, I completed my M Tech program from IIT Madras, in Clinical Engineering which is jointly coordinated by Christian Medical College Vellore and Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Trivandrum.

During my PG I had learned a great deal of healthy life skills and got insight that has enhanced the standard of my life and had given me a new dimension of thinking on approaching both technical and non-technical issues, Some of my hobbies include blogging, writing, photography, cricket, squash, swimming, and badminton.

I have extensive hands-on experience in IT, Healthcare (Medical) and E-commerce industry and various technological domains including but not limited to Android development, end-to-end IoT product development, and management.

I am keen on building and managing products, algorithms, agile methodologies, & full cycle Product R & D, by leveraging co-design, user feedback, analytics and budding technology to bring out innovative and creative smart products.

My fav. areas of interest include healthcare, programming, Medtronic and creative tech. I have Created this website to create public awareness about health care issues and related technology that is affecting our lives daily.

I am currently working as a Senior Engineer Software, Dell Technologies Pvt Ltd where helping Create Social Impact in collaboration with Government of India and partner ecosystem through Digital Transformation of the healthcare sector through the timely delivery of a technical platform that is high quality and scalable for healthcare providers and decision-makers to enable Continuum of Care for citizens by building an Android app which works offline having a secure database which syncs the healthcare data when there is internet connectivity.

The awareness of health facts that we share here together would definitely aid us to grow and flower into healthy and holistic human beings. – Pradeep Jeswani

The following is a quick description of my recent projects and workshops:

Programming and solution design Projects

Mannequin Based Medical Training Simulator For Post-Operative Cardiac Care: Client-server Based Cardiovascular System Simulation.

  • Client-server Based Cardiovascular System Simulation that uses TCP/IP socket connection between PHP at the client end and C at the server end that is setting mannequin based medical training device having sensors generating physiological data, such as pulse rate, blood pressure, etc to train nurses working at postoperative cardiac care in hospitals.

Effective management of hospital wastes in community health setup

  • The idea emerged from a workshop that we attended, titled ‘Design for Health’ conducted by SCTIMST along with Singapore University of Technology and Design, Singapore (SUTD) that focused on the concept of Co-Design.
  • This project aimed at reducing needlestick injuries to healthcare workers (doctors, nurses and the sharps disposers). Based on the learning and interactions with healthcare workers at a community health center and executives of ANERT, Trivandrum, worked out a design and a plan for disposal of sharps and municipal wastes and suggested to the Community Health Center (CHC) where the study was undertaken.

Blood Sample Tracking Automation

  • There is a general condition in a pathology lab where samples are stored in the various rack after performing a medical test and sometimes to confirm disease or for further clarification sample is needed again.  So the requirement arises to have an automated mechanism to track samples for a particular patient and to locate sample exact position among various rack easily.  The project aimed to solve this problem by designing a Sample Tracking System. It used HTML, CSS, PHP to design the interactive front end and chosen Oracle 10 g Database to store the sampled data. To make it fast barcode device was also used to make sample ID scanning seamlessly fast before arranging into the rack.

RFID Tag based queuing system design to reduce waiting time

Undergraduate project Salary Management System

  • The project aimed at the Payroll /Salary Management System for Engineering College, Ajmer using the web framework of HTML, JavaScript, PHP, and My SQL as a relational database.

Design and Probing Projects

Optimal Temperature Control Design for Baby Incubator

EMG Signal Acquisition using Arduino UNO Microcontroller

Reverse Engineering of pulse oximeter in proteus
